Dr Sakai graduated proudly from the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil. He did a residency in anesthesia at São Paulo State University in Brazil and Cornell University in the US. Now, he is an associate professor at the University of Georgia. He started researching the use of electroencephalography in anesthesia after watching a memorable lecture by Dr. Emery Brown at the Venice World Congress!
